The Highs and Lows
The more challenging portions of this trail will come at the start due to the steep climb to the top; however, the rest is straightforward.
You do have an option that can make this easier or more complicated. There is a pavement going around almost from point to point, with a small portion at the start and end of the trail being grassy hills or muddy trails, which do not cause any struggle if you are after a more scenic, slightly more challenging walk.
We would recommend steering away from the pavement and walking directly up and down the hills from point to point.
Two main points of interest and great views, this is a perfect out and back trail if you are a beginner or just dusting the hiking boots off again.
The first main interest and one you want to focus on is the Goldmine point nearing the trail’s start.
To be on the correct path when you reach “The Goldmine”, you want to be heading on the second path to your right or in-car terms. If you were circling, this would be the 4th exit of the “Trail Roundabout” once you follow this path, you can’t go wrong.
If you are not using the All Trails Map that tracks you and shows you where you are and where to go, you can go straight ahead (along with as you don’t take a direct 90-degree turn right). There will be two trails both join back up and lead you to the “Worcestershire Beacon” However, All Trails will show you all of this once you’re on track anyway.
Once you reach the beacon (shown in one of the images below), this is your halfway point; take a drink, relax if you are tired.
This is a great point to have that little snack you packed and change if you are too hot or cold. Once you are ready and you’ve taken in the views, you are prepared to head back.
You follow the same trail back on yourself, and you’ll find yourself back in the Earnslaw Car park.
